As you drift through darkness, tiny animals swirl around you.  Strobes flash in the distance like fireworks underwater.  You breathe evenly to maintain neutral buoyancy.  You are drifting over hundreds of feet of water.  Suddenly, your attention focuses on one animal among dozens.  You raise your camera.  You position yourself perfectly to snap a photo of the rare sight before you.

This is the challenge and fascination of blackwater photography.

You encounter unique and amazing animals. Some have never been seen before.  But blackwater diving puts your macro photo skills to the ultimate test.

MASTER MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY

Taking photos of miniscule, see through creatures is hard even in the best of conditions.  Blackwater diving requires finely-tuned abilities.  Develop the technical photography and dive skills to take your macro photography to the next level.

First, discover tips to maintain exceptional buoyancy control.  This is an essential skill when the ocean floor is 700 feet below you.  Next, learn how to stay within range of the boat without an in-water guide.

Then, dive deeper into camera and lighting settings.  Finally, unlock the secrets to photographing tiny moving creatures in the dark.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

Andrea can tailor the blackwater macro photo workshop to most experience levels.  Whether you use a DSLR, mirrorless, or compact camera, Andrea will help you get the most out of your photo gear.

Participants should be comfortable in night diving conditions.  Divers must also be PADI Advanced Open Water or Night Diver certified (or other agency equivalent) and age 15 or older to participate in a Blackwater dive.  Prior blackwater diving experience is recommended.
