ITINERARY

Start your journey in Quito, Ecuador, nestled in the foothills of the Andes. Next, fly to San Cristobal, one of the 20 islands that make up the Galapagos archipelago.

From San Cristobal, we will board the Galapagos Sky. Spend the week exploring underwater and on land.

The Galapagos Marine Reserve is only accessible by liveaboard.

TRIP DATES: APRIL 6 – 13, 2025

Saturday, April 5

Fly in to Quito, Ecuador. You will want to arrive at least a full 24 hours before the scheduled Galapagos Sky departure.

There’s plenty to explore in and around Quito. Discover forested nature reserves shrouded in clouds, well-known to birdwatchers worldwide. Tour the historic heart of the city, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Sunday, April 6

Hop aboard an early-morning flight to depart mainland Ecuador. Domestic flights between Quito and San Cristobal are included with the trip.*

Next, board the Galapagos Sky where their friendly crew will be waiting to greet you. Complete a check out dive at Isla Lobos to get ready for a week of diving.

*Please note that only Avianca flight 1630 from Quito (UIO) or Guayaquil (GYE), Ecuador to San Cristobal (SCY) departing Sunday, April 6 and returning Sunday, April 13 are included with the trip.

Monday, April 7

Dive into the Galapagos! Start your day with a morning dive at Bartolome Island.

Next, grab your camera as we depart the boat for a land tour. Photograph black lava flows and the iconic Pinnacle Rock, which you may recognize from the movie “Master and Commander.”

In the afternoon, splash in for two more dives at Cousins Rock.

Bartolome Island is home to Galapagos Penguins, sharks, sea turtles and funky-looking red-lipped batfish.

Tuesday, April 8 – Thursday, April 10

Explore the wild Wolf and Darwin islands as we dive all day. If conditions allow, we will even complete a night dive at Wolf on Tuesday.

Wolf and Darwin islands are the most remote of the Galapagos archipelago. They are both the tops of subsurface volcanic islands that extend more than 1,000 deep to the seabed.

They are home to a myriad of spectacular marine life and sea birds, including hammerhead, white tip, and Galapagos sharks. Red-footed Boobies can be photographed here. Wolf and Darwin islands are also the most likely places to spot a whale shark!

Friday, April 11

Overnight, we will venture from Wolf and Darwin islands south to Fernandina Island

Here, we will dive with marine iguanas in shallow waters. Next, we head to Punta Vincente Roca for two more dives.

Fernandina Island is the westernmost island of the Galapagos archipelago, and the most volcanically active. You are likely to see penguins, sea lions, and land iguanas here.

Saturday, April 12

From Fernandino Island, we will sail northeast around the tip of Isabela Island and then southeast toward San Cristobal, stopping at the tiny Pinzon Island for a dive.

Next, we adventure to the nearby Santa Cruz Island to explore the Galapagos Tortoise Reserve

If you plan to continue your adventures on/from Santa Cruz after the trip ends, you will disembark early on Saturday instead of continuing to San Cristobal.

Sunday, April 13

Before we say goodbye to the Galapagos, we will explore the Interpretation Center on Sunday morning. Learn about the history, significance, and ongoing conservation efforts of these amazing islands.

After we disembark the Galapagos Sky, we head to the airport for our flights back to mainland Ecuador.

Staying in Quito for the evening to catch a flight the following day? Join us for a group dinner to celebrate the memories we will have made together on this epic adventure!

DIVING THE GALAPAGOS

The Galapagos is home to an amazing assortment of marine wildlife. Complex currents and waters of varying temperature provide ideal habitat for animals like sharks, sea lions, mola mola, and whale sharks. But, they also present challenging dive conditions.

Water temperatures in the Galapagos vary between the low 60’s to high 70’s. Visibility varies between dive sites. Depths range from 20′ to 100′.

DIVER REQUIREMENTS

Guests must be age 15 or older.

Divers must hold an Advanced Open Water certification, or higher, and be Enriched Air Nitrox certified. Nitrox is included with the trip.

Not yet Nitrox certified?  Sign up now to earn your certification before the trip.

Diving in the Galapagos is advanced due to strong currents, varying visibility, and cold water. Divers must be comfortable in these conditions, as well as have very good buoyancy and be able to do negative (sometimes rapid) backroll entries/descents from small boats.

Guests must have at least 100 logged dives and recent dive experience within 3 months of the Galapagos trip. Divers must be in good physical condition to dive.
