PADI NIGHT DIVER SPECIALTY
Diving after dark is thrilling and mysterious. Let’s dip beneath the inky surface and find out what emerges at night.
Moonlight shimmers through the water’s surface. Dark silhouettes of coral heads appear as your eyes adjust to the darkness.
As you move your flashlight around, you uncover nocturnal creatures that don’t come out during the day. Your spotlight shines on an octopus hunting for dinner. Its pale skin flashes from glowing green to bright blue.
Like a city that never sleeps, you hear the sounds of the nighttime reef coming to life. An evening symphony of crackling crabs and snapping shrimp gnaw on the reef.
The ocean at night is exciting, lively, and totally different than the daytime! That also means you need specific skills to dive safely and enjoy your dive after dark.
IN THE SPECIALTY
During three dives at the Blue Heron Bridge, learn and practice:
- Navigating a dive site at night.
- How to communicate underwater with a flashlight.
- Techniques to ascend and descend in the dark.
- An exhilarating way to dive the sites you love!
BEFORE AND AFTER THE SPECIALTY
Before the PADI Night Diver Specialty, divers need to be at least 12 years old and (Junior) Open Water certified.
