If you want to have some great Florida reef dives then West Palm Beach is the place to dive! Colorful, healthy corals blanket the reef and the fish life on the reefs is unlike anywhere else in Florida or the Caribbean.

We began today’s shallow reef dives at Breaker’s reef. Swarms of tropical fish engulfed the reefs. Amongst the colorful sponges, sea fans, and soft and hard corals, numerous fish and eels covered the reef. The water temperature was an inviting 81 degrees. A very slight north current kept us drifting slowly along the reef ledge while a good 45 feet of visibility kept our visual senses occupied.

On our second dive we headed to Ron’s Rock where we quickly encountered one of the very friendly goliath groupers that has been hanging out in the area. The grouper’s inquisitiveness allowed the group to approach within arms distance to enjoy the leviathan’s  presence up close. We are really excited for our upcoming goliath grouper aggregation in Palm Beach. Every year it never ceases to impress us with the large number of groupers that congregate on the wrecks and reefs while completely covered in bait fish. This is one of the great Florida dives you do not want to miss and it happens here in West Palm Beach in August and September! Our first goliath grouper dive is scheduled for August 11th, 2013. Come join us!

A short distance from the goliath grouper, a beautiful and rarely seen black brotula fish (aka. black widow) was hiding within the recesses of the reef. Everyone took the opportunity to see this rare fish up close.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a great Florida reef dive without seeing one of our favorite sea turtles. With the green sea turtle nesting season well under way, it was very likely we would encountered them on our reef dives. One lovely individual swam by stopping to have a closer look. Almost an hour into the dive it was time to return to the surface.

Another set of great Florida reef dives in West Palm Beach! Join us on a dive and see the beautiful reefs and the amazing fish life for yourself. You will not be disappointed!
