DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING
Give the gift of diving with a Discover Scuba Dive (DSD). If you are new to the diving world, Discover Scuba Diving is a great place to start. This experience takes half a day to complete, so if you are short on time, look no further. If you’re unsure if your loved one will like scuba diving enough to commit to a full Open Water certification course, a DSD is the best way to find out. Get hands-on experience with our knowledgeable instructors.
First, learn the basics of scuba diving in a short classroom session. Then, get ready for the in-water portion. Choose from a pool session or ocean dive. Take things slow and steady in a crystal clear pool. Or, explore a local shore diving site called the Blue Heron Bridge. The Blue Heron Bridge boasts tropical marine life of all shapes and sizes, and a lively artificial reef full of soft corals.
It’s important to know the Discover Scuba Diving session is a try diving experience. It does not include a SCUBA certification. However, if you want to get a head start on your Open Water course, let your instructor know. Skills you learn during the DSD can count toward your full SCUBA certification!

OPEN WATER COURSE
Ready to go one step further? Take the plunge and get scuba certified! The Open Water course certifies you to dive to a depth of 60 feet with a buddy.
Throughout the course, gain the knowledge and skills you need to dive safely. The Open Water course takes place over three days.
First, complete the online e-Learning. Then, head over to a local pool with your instructor and fellow classmates. Start by practicing new skills like hovering underwater and assembling your gear.
Next, go on two Open Water dives at the Blue Heron Bridge. This iconic site is ideal to start out. It has shallow depths and tons of tropical marine life to encounter.
Finally, dive into the warm offshore waters of Palm Beach County. Explore beautiful coral reefs and encounter marine creatures aplenty. Search for lobsters, eels, stingrays, and more. You may even come across a sleeping sea turtle or curious shark!

BEFORE YOU GIVE THE GIFT OF DIVING
We want to make sure you know what to expect. Students who enroll in Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water course must:
- Be at least 10 years old
- Have a completed Diver Medical form (or signed off by physician) prior to in-water activities
