Begin your journey helping divers as a Hyperbaric Chamber Operator!  Students in this course will gain an in-depth understanding of the causes of DCS.  You will learn to perform a quick neurological assessment to recognize and evaluate Decompression Sickness.  Finally, you will gain a working knowledge of the treatment tables used in hyperbarics and diving disorders.

The Hyperbaric Chamber Operator course includes thorough coverage of all the in-water skills needed to take care of a victim of Decompression Sickness (DCS).

A professional dive certification is NOT required to enroll in this class.  You do NOT need to be a medical professional to participate.  Divers must hold an Advanced Open Water certification or higher, and have good working knowledge of diving laws.

Recreational Diver Applications:  Develop a thorough understanding of the causes, symptoms and treatment for Decompression Sickness (DCS).  Learn essential skills needed as a recreational or technical diver to care for victims of DCS.  Participants do NOT need any prior medical or professional diving certifications or experience to benefit from this class.

Professional Applications:  The Hyperbaric Chamber Operator course gives attendees a start in their hyperbaric career at a basic level.  It is ideal for those working in a hyperbaric facility that need to gain work experience prior to obtaining the IBUM Advanced HT or IBUM CHRN certification.  This certification will show that the candidate is serious about pursuing their career in hyperbaric medicine.

This multi-day course is certified by the International Board of Undersea Medicine (IBUM) and designed for those seeking advanced knowledge in diving medicine.  This course is the first step to become an IBUM Advanced Hyperbaric Technician and chamber operations professional.

With 5 or more participants, this class includes hands-on chamber operations.  You will practice operating a portable hyperbaric chamber on-site at Pura Vida Divers.

Participants must register in advance. To sign up, or for additional course details, contact Pura Vida Divers at 561-840-8750 or
