The Palm Beach County Diving Association is holding their annual Summer’s End Party and Artificial Reef Fundraiser Saturday, September 19th at 6:30pm at Lake Park Marina.

Spend the day diving the beautiful reefs of Palm Beach and then stay for an evening of fun and entertainment. In addition to music, food, drinks, and laughter, The Palm Beach County Diving Association will be holding a raffle that you won’t want to miss. Tickets cost just $5 each and there is no limit to how many you can purchase. This year’s prizes are donated from the local dive shops and dive charters that make up The Palm Beach County Diving Association. The prizes range in value from $1 to $1000 and consists of boat passes, air fill cards, scuba certification courses, t-shirts, dive equipment, and much more. You must be present to win one of the door prizes, however all grand prize winners will be notified of their winnings if they are not present at the time of the raffle drawling. Proceeds from the night’s events will go the The Palm Beach County Diving Association Artificial Reef Fund.

Through the combined efforts of the McCauley Family, Palm Beach County Diving Association, and Palm Beach County Artificial Reef Program, The Danny (Palm Beach County’s newest artificial reef) was sunk February 22nd, 2013 just north of the Lake Worth Inlet. Forever known as the Danny McCauley Memorial Reef, this 130ft ice class tug sits in 80ft of water and is now home to Goliath grouper, tropical fish and new sponge growth. This wreck memorializes the short life of a local teen and is already a local favorite. Follow the link for the video of the sinking and check it out for yourself!

As a community, Palm Beach County looks forward to raising enough money to be able to sink another wreck off its shores. With your help, we can do just that. So be sure to purchase your raffle tickets the next time you join us for a dive or stop by the shop.
