Have you ever spent an entire dive searching for an octopus, only to realize you swam right past its den? Or maybe you found one, but your shot came out backscattered or poorly framed because the octo caught you off guard?

Capturing the perfect shot of these eight-armed masters of camouflage takes more than just luck. It requires a mix of creativity, technical skill, and an understanding of animal behavior.

We are teaming up with renowned Octopus Researcher Dr. Chelsea Bennice (aka “Octo Girl”) and PVD Photo Pro Emma Rigolo for an exclusive, hands-on photo workshop dedicated entirely to our favorite cephalopods.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

This isn’t just a standard photo seminar. During the octopus photo workshop, you’ll take a deep dive into both the science and the art of octopus photography:

  • The Octopus Whisperer’s Guide: Learn how to spot hidden dens and identify local South Florida octopus species.

  • Behavior Tracking: Understand cephalopod body language so you can anticipate their movements and prep your camera before the action happens.

  • Ethical Imaging: Discover how to keep the animal completely comfortable, ensuring natural behavior and an amazing encounter.

  • Lighting & Composition: Master the ideal settings, creative lighting techniques (strobes or video lights), and framing for both macro and wide-angle setups.
