Every year between August and September, hundreds of Goliath Grouper aggregate along the wrecks and reefs of the Palm Beaches to spawn. Growing up to 8 feet long and weighing up to 800 pounds, these curious, booming reef residents are always a favorite to local and visiting divers.

Goliath Grouper are one of Florida’s most iconic fishes, but they have a storied past. Join us at Coastal Karma Brewing to learn fun and fishy facts about these giants! 

Dr. Angela Collins, of UF IFAS and the Florida Sea Grant, will bring her decades of experience as a marine fisheries biologist, specializing in cooperative research with divers and anglers alike, to the taproom.

GOLIATH GROUPER COUNT

Since 2010, the Great Goliath Grouper Count (GGGC) has collected vital population data on Florida’s Goliath grouper stocks. This citizen science project captures a geographic snapshot of Goliath distribution and size abundance across artificial reefs statewide.

Join us to learn how citizen science and directed research have provided important fisheries data across the state of Florida. DIVE WITH A GROUPER SCIENTIST

The next day, go diving with Dr. Collins to observe Goliath Grouper in the wild! 

 Chat with Dr. Collins during the surface interval and ask questions about these amazing fish. 

 Since Goliaths are most frequently found on deeper 70′ – 90′ sites, divers must have Advanced Open Water (or higher) and Enriched Air Nitrox certifications to join the charter.
