Join Pura Vida Divers, a Project AWARE partner, and PADI MSDT Tito Oliveras on SUNDAY, JUNE 11th for the Sea Turtle Awareness Specialty Course!
Sea turtle nesting season is already underway here in Palm Beach County. What better way is there to spend a day than learning about these magnificent creatures in the morning and enjoying a 2-tank dive in the afternoon? We will look for and identify the sea turtles we find along the reef, as they rest from their night of nesting, swim alongside us or feed on sponges and sea-grass.
The Sea Turtle Awareness Distinctive Specialty course will help divers enhance their sea turtle identification skills, as well as teach you how to help conservation efforts to preserve these amazing endangered species.
The goals of the Sea Turtle Awareness course training are:
To introduce sea turtle species common in temperate or tropical waters.
To provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to identify turtles and record sightings.
To inform students about decline in sea turtle populations.
To inform students about the importance of sea turtles to marine biodiversity.
To each students what they can do to reduce the loss of sea turtles worldwide.
To familiarize students with the role of Project AWARE in preserving the aquatic environment.
