Have you ever seen a sea turtle lay eggs? We encounter these living dinosaurs on local reefs during the day, but at night, female sea turtles crawl onto the beach to nest. Join us at Loggerhead Marinelife Center to watch them in action at one of the densest loggerhead nesting sites in the world!
First, enjoy a presentation about the sea turtles journey, nesting and reproduction. Learn about local populations and participate in hands-on activities. While we learn, scouts search for nesting sea turtles. When one is spotted, we venture onto the beach to watch her nest.
To help ensure the comfort and wellbeing of nesting turtles, participants should wear dark colored clothing. Flashlights and cameras are not allowed during this activity. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as we may be walking up to 1/4 mile in the sand. This is a rain or shine event, so bring along a raincoat or poncho.
This program includes a $40 donation per person to Loggerhead Marinelife Center to support their sea turtle rehabilitation and conservation efforts.
Please bear in mind that sea turtles are wild animals, and we cannot guarantee their presence during the event. No refunds are issued in the event we do not see a turtle, or in the event of foul weather. Be sure to check out the full cancellation policy details when booking.
Kids must be age 10 or older to participate.
