Shark Dive Stuart Cove

Join Pura Vida Divers and the SharkCounts program June 14th through June 17th, 2013, for an exciting weekend of diving with Stuart Cove’s in the Bahamas.

In 2011 the Bahamian government announced that all commercial shark fishing in the approximately 630,000 square kilometers (243,244 square miles) of the country’s waters was now prohibited. This announcement permanently protects more than 40 shark species in Bahamian waters, making the Bahamas the best place in the Caribbean to see sharks in their natural environment.

As divers, we get to observe sharks in their natural environment and with frequent and regular sightings, we often become familiar with local trends. But did you know that our observations can be used to help protect sharks?

The SharksCount program seeks to close the important data gap between scientists and recreational divers by enabling divers to act as “citizen scientists for sharks.” With each dive, we continue to provide beneficial data that reenforces the shark’s protection.
